Parziale and Maccario win at Oak Hill, Broderick shoots 67, Smith Sisters top 5

Taconic GC

It might feel to you like you’re not playing as much golf as you would like. But rest assured, there are a bunch of players out there competing their faces off at some incredible venues.

Before we get into results, the Tri-State Matches between Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut are happening these next two weeks.

On the women’s side, the Endicott Cup and Tri-State Matches are going on at Woods Hole this week from Oct. 8-10. 73 women play 36 holes on Oct. 8 and 9. The top 7 players from each state compete in the Tri-State Matches on Thursday, Oct. 10.

The Men’s Tri-State Matches are Oct. 15-16. Those teams are picked based on summer performance. They will play at Worcester CC.

Send along any stories or results, and I’ll add them to the log for the next Results Round-Up. Trophy shots are always welcome, too! [email protected].

  • Thorbjornsen gets top ten at Sanderson Farms: Rounds of 63-69-69-68 helped Michael Thornbjornsen finish T8 (-19). After his Thursday round, he reflected on his somewhat disappointing summer.

I've learned a lot. I think this summer -- obviously I didn't play good golf at all. My game wasn't in a great spot. Then kind of putting myself in these tournaments where you have the best players in the world, you're really going to get exposed.

But yeah, just had to put in some good work these off weeks and understand that to play good golf, you don't really need something special, just hit fairways, hit greens, and have a couple putts drop here and there, and you'll produce some good results.

So yeah, just tried to keep that mindset going with me. Just work hard on the off weeks, get my work done in when I'm here at these tournaments because I haven't played some of these courses. Really just take it day by day.

Michael Thorbjornsen

Team Golf in Massachusetts: MassGolf has some cool team matches that culminate this fall. Acushnet River Valley won the Women’s Fall Cup Challenge this past week at Wedgewood Pines in Stow. The Men’s Team Matches are on October 21 at Ipswich CC.
