Dudley Hill has a cool connection to Nichols College. Students work in the pro shop and help around the course. The nine-holer has a mix of college kids and retired folks sharing the course.

Looking at the course from a satellite view, it seems that it would be a redundant "back and forth" routing. However, the actual walk does not feel like that. The opening holes run along the edge of the property. It's not an ideal setup for players who hit it left-to-right.

The strongest holes are in the middle of the round. Holes 3-7, in particular, are good, while holes 5 and 6 are the best.

The par-3 third is a tough little hole with a graveyard as the backdrop and a tiny green sitting up on a small plateau.

The fourth tee shot is blind, and the green sits in the back corner of the property.

Hole 5 offers a buffet of features that pop up on other holes at Dudley. The rolling land isn't extreme, but it hides the landing zone and some bunkers on the right side of the hole. There is still trouble along the left and the land slopes in that direction. The green is open at the front, with a bit of a back-to-front slope.

Then the 6th is a strong par 3. The land continues to slope from right-to-left, and green is protected by a couple of bunkers. The green sits in the land nicely, and a small mound frames the hole and hides a bunker.

The round ends with some long holes. The 7th is a strong par 4 before closing with back-to-back par 5s.

Dudley is the type of course that every town would be lucky to have. It's affordable, community-driven, great for beginners, and interesting enough to keep players coming back for more.
