Hey Everyone,
I was fortunate to play the back nine at Sankaty Head this week during our vacation on Nantucket. I am working on a story about a very cool aspect of the club. The course is excellent, and I’m looking forward to playing all 18 someday!
On Monday, I played Siasconet, which is the public nine-hole course on Nantucket. It is such a cool course. It’s short and challenging with some blind shots and hungry fescue. Greens were rolling nicely, too!
News and Notes

Canadian Open: Michael Thorbjornsen shot 69 (-1), and Davis Chatfield shot 70 in the opening round. Thorbjornsen started the week needing a third-place finish to have a chance at cracking the top 60 in the world rankings and getting a spot in the U.S. Open. The slow start has him behind the eight ball. Four players shot 64 to hold the round one lead. Live Scoring
OccuNet Classic: Chris Francoeur shot 73 (+3), and Rob Oppenheim shot 77 out in Amarillo, Texas. Ben Carr shot 64 (-6) to grab the lead. The cut line might be hovering around +3, so a lot to play for on Friday. Live Scoring
DOW Championship: Alexa Pano and Briana Chacon shot 72 (E) in the Thursday alternate-shot format. Meghan Khang and Lexi Thompson shot 73 (+3). Three teams shot 67 (-3) to hold the lead.
Mass Open: Evan Harmeling (Andover, Mass.) shot 73-66-66 to win a tight Mass Open at Oyster Harbors. In 2013, Harmeling also won the Mass Open after turning pro. He’s a winner on the Korn Ferry Tour and has played PGA Tour events. A birdie on the 16th hole locked up the win Ryan Celano, the son of The International’s Paul Celano, finished one shot behind. Over the final two days, Harmeling made 1 bogey, 11 birdies, and 1 eagle. Alan Rose III (Weston, Mass.) earned low amateur honors with rounds of 74-69-67. Aside from his 41 on the back nine in the opening round, Rose III’s other five nine-hole score were all 35 or better. | MassGolf Recap

Nautilus has incredible fried oyster tacos (they also have a restaurant in the Seaport).
I’m drinking…
We went to the Gazebo before dinner at Nautilus. It appears the Gazebo will close or at the very least be under different ownership/management in 2027. Didn’t get their famous mudslide because we didn’t want to spoil our dinner. Had a dark and stormy.
Madaket Mystery at Millie’s is a strong rum drink that is quite delicious.
I’m watching…
We watched Kindergarten Cop and The Hand That Rocks the Cradle this week.
Of course, the World Cup started this week, too.
