The final four holes of Woodlands GC provided some drama in the final round in all three divisions.
After rain shortened the event to 36 holes, the final round at Woodland GC had busy leaderboards as players tried to separate from the pack at the traditional host for the Ouimet Memorial’s final round.
Georgantas finishes with a flurry of birdies
The final run for Georgantas started when he made a very good par from the side of the green on the 15th hole.
“Blocked my four iron right. And then I hit kind of a bad chip,” he said following the round. “It landed on the back of the bunker, and it just scooted all the way up the hill to four feet.”
As his chip shot rolled across the green, Trevor Drew, who was safely on the green and putting for birdie and just one shot back, rubbed his face in disbelief.
That’s what the 15th hole can do to players. It’s very much the last challenging checkpoint on the course. Drew might have been doing some math in his mind, and that chip changed the numbers.
