The Ouimet Memorial will be held at Foxborough CC (Foxborough, Mass.) and Woodland GC (Newton, Mass.) from July 29-31. The event always finishes at Woodland GC, and the first two rounds rotate to different clubs in the state. The event has been held since 1968, the year after Francis Ouimet passed away. Woodland GC is where Ouimet was a member, and his friends decided to have a tournament in his memory.

In 1999, they added the Lowery Division for seniors. It’s named after Eddie Lowery, Ouimet’s friend who caddied for him during his famous 1913 U.S. Open win at The Country Club. Then in 2004, the tournament added a women’s division.

All three events happen concurrently.

The format is 54-hole stroke play with a cut after 36 holes.

What Happened Last Year?

Matt Parziale shot 72-68-69 to beat Ben Spitz by one shot. A birdie on the 16th hole made the difference, as Parziale closed with eight pars and one birdie on the back nine at Woodland GC. It was Parziale’s fourth Ouimet title, adding to his wins in 2009, 2013, and 2017.

Brendan Hester shot 71-75-72 (+3) to beat David Pierce by a shot in the Lowery Division.

In the Women’s Division, Morgan Smith shot 72-75-69 (+1) to beat her sister Maddie Smith by eight shots. Morgan Smith’s closing 69 was the best round by four shots among the players who made the cut.
